Okay, I was chatting with an ex-band member, here is an excerpt of the conversation.
Me: hey, how's going? Ex-Band Mate: dude, update your blog. Me: yeah, I'm doing well, how are you...
:)
so here we are.
The last update was done right before left for a 1 week sailing trip in the Adriatic Sea. We started from Split, Croatia and travelled north to several different islands. I have never sailed before but it was really fun and something I would like to do again. There were 8 of us on the boat but most of them had sailed many times before. I was with Rogie, Elaine, Jeany, Ahn-Soph, Banjo, Heidi, Banjo Baby and Audrey.
Some things to note:
- We hardly ever sailed with the wind directly behind us so we spent most of the time Tacking. It's really cool when the sail catches wind; the boat tips over so much that you feel as though it is going to tip over.
- All your crap/urine gets dumped directly into the ocean. As a result, it's usually great etiquette to do a number 2 while you are in the marina (docked for the night). We were yelled at one morning when our neighbouring boat saw chunks floating around. Incidently, it wasn't actually us. We had a shredder installed on our boat, which we pointed out to our neighbours. I put this shredder into use another day while we were anchored in a bay. Someone took pictures. (pretty disgusting).
- Gravol works really really well and it saved my life.
- Always try to stay on the deck when you are sailing. Being downstairs is almost a guarenteed recipe for hurling chunks.
- The weather was amazing and I have never spent so much time or been so tired from sun tanning. I was really dark.
- Things in Croatia are cheaper (but not by too much) than things in France/Italy. The currency is the Kuna which is about 1 Euro = 7.3 Kuna.

After our sailing trip we drove home, across Italy to make it back for my Monday morning classes. We arrived at my place in France at about Midnight on Sunday. Since then it has been non-stop schoolwork and company presentations. Since the first week of september we've had about 2 company's on campus per day and yesterday we 8!
We also had our first Rugby game of the school year today, which ended up in a tie... The first week of October we are going to Dublin to play an Irish team.
I'm currently try to plan my trip to Philadelphia to study there for a term. Lots of logistics from planning accomodation and flights to figuring out what I'm going to do with all my stuff here.
I still have no idea where I'm going to be after graduation and it is a bit disturbing. The job market is looking pretty good but my ability to work in Europe is severly hampered by the fact that I have no experience here, nor with any large company.
On the job front, I'm in the middle of things and will wait until I get more details before posting any updates.
Audrey left last week so things are pretty dull around here. I am not invited to any more parties since it was usually her that was receiving the invites. I have, of course, continued my healthy eating and continued to keep my room extremely tidy inspite of her absence.
I have added pictures from San Sebastian (Spain), Bilbao (Spain), Bordeaux (France), Venice (Italy) and Croatia.
Enjoy. http://atomicmoo.blogspot.com
